"Thank you so much to all the shoppers who kindly and generously donated, and of course, the wonderful staff at Stratford New World who really worked hard asking for the donations."
Raewyn Rooney, vice-president of the Stratford Daffodil Day Committee, says they are thrilled to receive a cheque for an impressive $2,525.20 from the local supermarket.
"It's an amazing total, and just shows how generous our community is."
Owner operator of Stratford New World Craig Waite says the store is always happy to support the Daffodil Day Committee, "they do great work and there is no doubt this is a worthy cause," and he was delighted with the total raised.
Checkout manager, Fiona Riddick says all the checkout staff did a fantastic job in asking customers to donate, and adds she isn't surprised that Jade Yeates raised the most out of all the checkout staff. "He has a great personality, everyone loves him," she laughs. Jade says he suspects donations put through his till totalled more than $500, and Fiona is sure they did.
"We would have to go and check each transaction as donations were done through the till along with the rest of the groceries, but we know he raised the most and it would have easily been more than $500."
Jade says he is happy to support the charity, so it made asking people to donate easy. "I could have probably raised more, I only work three days a week!"
Raewyn says it is the positive and helpful attitude of people like Jade that really encourages people to donate. "He is lovely, and he has done a fantastic job."
