Anyone who can swing a racquet can compete in the Taranaki Masters Games tennis competition, says organiser Beth Webster.
The tennis event, held over Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13, will again be hosted by the Rotokare Tennis Club. Beth says the event has been a part of the Taranaki Masters Games since it began.
"The competition is always a great day. You get the chance to meet up with old friends, as well as meet plenty of new competitors."
While initially the event had an age restriction of 40 years and over, the age has been dropped to 35, "to encourage more players to get involved".
It doesn't matter if you haven't been on the court for a few months or a few years, says Beth, adding that experience isn't necessary for those wanting to get involved.
The events for the Masters competition are all doubles and Beth says that if you don't have a partner, don't be discouraged. "Get yourself signed up and we can help out by finding you a partner."
Entries for the tennis competition need to be submitted a week before the competition.
