Kaela Savage, Hui Whaanga and Nicole Harrison are making a huge effort to raise funds for the Taranaki Cancer Society by hosting a family day out.
The girls are putting their hair on the line, as at the end of the day, each of them will have their heads shaved for the cause along with brave volunteers Wayne and Massey Matson who will have their legs waxed.
The gala day on November 16 will be fun for the whole family. Not only is there a live auction, with the highest bidder securing the opportunity to shave/wax the volunteers, but generous businesses from around the region have jumped at the chance to support the cause.
The group has been offered a bouncy castle for the kids, live music, and costumes for the volunteers.
"Also like any good gala day we will have all the fun games to participate in - egg and spoon, gumboot throw, dunk the clown," Kaela says, with all prizes having been donated.
"The point of us holding the event is to raise awareness. If you are ever concerned about a change in yourself, whether it be in how you feel or how something looks, always get it checked out," Kaela says.
"Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer so this event is a great way to raise awareness and funds while having an awesome day out," says Hui.
The smoke-free, alcohol-free event will be held from 11am-3pm at Eltham's Taumata Park, free entry.
