Stratford local Tori Cleland (15) has had an "absolutely amazing experience" performing with the New Plymouth Operatic Society in its recent production of Hairspray.
Tori played the character of Louann who dances on the Corny Collins show. Tori has been involved with dancing since she was not much older than two years, however this is her first time performing with the New Plymouth Operatic society.
"This was my first time ever with acting and singing and I've loved every minute of it."
Despite being incredibly nervous Tori was encouraged to audition for the performance by her dance teacher Petreena Lester.
"I am so glad she did. I have met so many talented people and have made many lifelong friends. I love performing onstage and having the opportunity to do it for two weeks has been a dream come true."
Tori is predicting there will be plenty of tears on the closing night as the cast have all become so close.
Through getting involved in Hairspray Tori is now a member of the Operatic Society and "absolutely cannot wait for the next show".
She says she would not think twice about being part of another performance.
"I encourage anyone with a passion for music, dance or acting to consider getting involved. It really has been an incredible experience."
