Prize goes long way

By Erika Venter

Theresa Archibold could attest to the merits of shopping therapy after winning $2000 worth of vouchers in the Stratford Press Shop & Win competition.

On Tuesday she spent the last of the money, which she won at the end of last year when she spent $10 on petrol at Caltex in Stratford.

"I had $10 left and wondered what to use it for, so thought: why not use it to fill up the car?"

She says "quite a bit" of the prize money went towards fuel, as the money she and husband Christopher had saved for a holiday had to be used for emergency dental work. "What can you do? It just happened. The prize came at just the right time."

They bought a caravan just before Christmas and, apart from buying a few bits and pieces with the vouchers to further kit out the caravan, they were able to enjoy their holiday as planned - caravanning at Waverley.

Theresa's first splurge was a 50-inch television from Selectrix. She has had her eye on a big screen for some time, she says.
