The Scratching Post opened on Broadway on Saturday, providing a lifeline to abandoned and unwanted kittens in the Stratford area.
The shop is run by Stratford Companion Animal Assistance Trust and all profit will go towards helping save the animals.
Stratford Rotary donated $160 to the trust; the proceeds from its sausage sizzle at the shop on the day.
The shop had plenty of feet through on Saturday, with cute goat kids at the entrance proving a very succesfull drawcard.
For more on the trust, pets up for adoption and how you can help, visit them on Broadway Tuesday-Friday 10am-3pm and Saturday 10am-1pm or on the web at www.thescratchingpost.co.nz.
