Forecast: Northwest 10 knots. Turning northeast 10 knots Thursday evening, but northeast 20 knots west of Farewell Spit to Hawera. Sea becoming moderate in the west. Southwest swell in the west, rising to 2 metres. Fair visibility in areas of rain clearing overnight.
Outlook: Outlook following 3 days: Becoming Friday morning northwest 30 knots, easing for a time Friday afternoon westerly 20 knots. Rising Saturday westerly 40 knots with very rough sea. Easing late Saturday westerly 25 knots, and late Sunday 15 knots. Southwest swell becoming heavy in the west Saturday, easing Sunday. Moderate northwest swell developing everywhere Friday easing Saturday.
