Forecast: *STORM WARNING IN FORCE* Westerly rising to 30 knots this afternoon, turning northerly 30 knots for a time early Saturday morning. Rising to westerly 50 knots late Saturday morning, gradually easing to 25 knots Saturday evening. Sea becoming high for a time. Southwest swell west of Hawera to Cape Farewell,rising to 4 metres.Westerly swell in the east,rising to 2 metres.Poor visibility in rain, possibly thundery Saturday morning.
Outlook: Outlook following 3 days: Changing Sunday southeast 30 knots, turning later Sunday southwest. A change Monday to southeast 30 knots, turning Tuesday westerly 35 knots with very rough sea. Heavy southwest swell at times in the west.
