The Prime Ministers of New Zealand and Singapore have signed their Closer Economic Partnership agreement.
Helen Clark and Goh Chok Tong signed on the dotted line in a Singapore hotel this afternoon before setting off for the APEC conference in Brunei.
The historic trade deal between the two countries is expected to be worth millions of dollars to exporters.
Tariffs on goods traded between New Zealand and Singapore will be eliminated from January the 1st next year.
Goh Chok Tong says Asia has been slow to set free trade agreements in place compared to other regions.
The 21 APEC leaders at the conference in Brunei are expected to be pushing for globalisation over the next few days.
