Road blocks have been lifted at Kelston in West Auckland following a police standoff with a man wanted on drugs charges.
Police closed a large area around Kelston soon after six this morning after they discovered a man they had been searching for, holed up in a local shop.
Police say they were concerned the man was armed and he had threatened to release dangerous chemicals.
He has now been arrested and taken into custody.
Police say the building the man was hiding in has been sealed off and all emergency services are being put through a decontamination process in case they were exposed to any chemicals.

British tourist found dead on Mt Taranaki
12:00 PM
A British tourist has been found dead on Mount Taranaki, two days after he went missing while tramping.
David Morrison failed to return from a planned hike to the summit of the mountain on Tuesday night.
Police say Mr Morrison was found this morning around 2000 metres up the mountain, not far from where he was last seen on Tuesday.
Senior Sergeant Doug Geraghty says it appears the 71-year-old died of exposure, following snowfall and high winds in the area.
Mr Morrison's body has been taken to Taranaki Base Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
