Three-time Ironman New Zealand champion Cameron Brown finished sixth at the inaugural Florida Half Ironman triathlon today.
Brown, third at last year's Ironman World Championship, was using the race as a shakedown for July's Ironman Germany race in Frankfurt.
He was sixth out of the water and dropped back two places on the 90km ride, pushing through the field with a strong 1hr 17min run for the 21kms for a sixth placing.
Four-time Olympic distance world champion Simon Lessing ran 1hr 13min run to overtake the flying Swede Bjorn Andersson early on the run to claim the men's race from Americans Chris Lieto and Michael Lovato.
Canadian Lisa Bentley, a two-time Ironman New Zealand winner, took out the women's race with New Zealand's Lynley Allison withdrawing on the run.
Meanwhile Taupo's Bryan Rhodes has finished third in Ironman Japan today.
