Sri Lankan cricketers have had their salaries slashed by 30 per cent by the country's cricket board of control.
The board has also introduced new performance-related incentives for the national team and has reduced the number of players on central contracts from 15 to 12.
The cutbacks reflect the tightening purse strings of the Sri Lanka board, which last week announced a US$2.7 million ($4.72 million) financial loss for last year.
The 12 contracted players have been given only 70 per cent of last year's base salary but will receive an additional US$500 for each win as well as a match fee bonus.
The match fee for tests (US$1750) and one-day internationals (US$1250) will be increased by 50 per cent for a win against one of the top four ranked sides in the world and 25 per cent against the fifth to eighth best teams.
