The UFC's newest star Israel Adesanya is wasting no time in his quest to conquer the middleweight division.
Fresh off his impressive UFC debut in Perth, the Kiwi middleweight will return to the octagon on April 15 (NZ time) against Italian Marvin Vettori, the UFC announced earlier today.
The unbeaten "Stylebender" (12-0) became an overnight sensation after his spectacular TKO victory over Rob Wilkinson earlier this month at UFC 221.
After the fight, which earned him a US$50,000 'performance of the night' bonus, Adesanya called out the entire middleweight division.
"Middleweights, I'm the new dog in the yard. And I just pissed all over this cage," Adesanya said after his victory.
This seemed to have caught the attention of Vettori (12-3-1), who called out the Nigerian born New Zealander earlier this week by calling him an "Australian bum loud mouth".
"There's an Australian bum loud mouth, he thinks he is battle tested," Vettori said on Twitter.
"I would love to give him his first loss."
The two middleweight prospects will face off at UFC on Fox 29 which will take place at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Lightweights Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje are scheduled to headline the event.
