San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray has explained one of the strangest tattoos in sport.

The NBA rookie has had to step up for the Spurs during the side's current playoff run following injuries to stars Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard.

With more court time however has put the spotlight on his right shoulder, where he graces an odd looking face tattoo.

American news outlet CBS Sports described it as a Ninja Turtle meets an Internet troll on their Instagram account, to which Murray hit back.

The 20-year-old, who the Spurs drafted 29th in last year's NBA draft, didn't really clear up exactly what that tattoo is.

"It's a mean face cause I'm a SAVAGE," he responded.

Murray and his teammates will need a better response than that if they are to recover from yesterday's game one defeat to the Golden State Warriors where they gave up a 25-point lead.
