Sonny Bill Williams has put behind him the recent Blues sponsor logo blow-up and turned his attention to helping refugees and lobbying for an increase in the number allowed into New Zealand.
Williams tweeted a picture of himself with a group of refugees in Auckland along with the message: Proud 2 b a kiwi! awesome 2 c the work we're doing at our refugee centre. God willing we raise our quota soon. Lkn fwrd 2 spending time here.
Also in the picture is former squash world champion and current Race Relations Conciliator Dame Susan Devoy.
Devoy and Williams have been vocal advocates for raising New Zealand's annual refugee quota and have been urging politicians and decision makers for increases.
Last year, Devoy launched New Zealand's first nationwide anti-racism digital campaign, "That's Us" that engaged with more than half a million people in just over a month.
Williams' tweet received strong support, including a thanks from the New Zealand Human Rights organisation.
