There is growing evidence Australian captain Steve Smith is not of this world.
The Aussie skipper produced another freakish moment to suggest he has the ability to step into the minds of his opponents at will after successfully sending a coded message to Aussie bowler Pat Cummins the very instant before the Aussie snared Black Caps dangerman Martin Guptill caught at the wicket.
Channel 9 cameras filmed Smith motioning to Cummins in a message that some have interpreted to be an order to bowl cross-seam deliveries at the Kiwi opener.
Whatever the message, it worked.
Cummins removed the Black Caps slugger the very next ball.
"Steve Smith called for something," Channel 9 commentator Ian Healy said.
"At the time we didn't know what it was. He relayed a message to Glenn Maxwell to tell Cummins to maybe try and few things. Next ball, thankyou."
