A difficult trip to India for the New Zealand Davis Cup tennis team next year.

The Kiwis have been drawn away to the Indians for the Asia Oceania Group 1 first round tie.

If New Zealand does advance to the second round they would face Uzbekistan away or Korea at home.

Meanwhile Michael Venus has continued his strong doubles year with Mate Pavic on the ATP Tour in Metz, France.

The pair who have won four titles in 2016 have reached the semi finals with a 6-2,7-6 win over fellow Kiwi Artem Sitak and his American partner Nicholas Monroe.

Kiwi Marcus Daniell and Brazilian Marcelo Demoliner had a match point before losing 5-7,7-6 and 13-11 in the super tiebreak to Britain's Colin Fleming and American Scott Lipsky.
