Sporting loses perfect record after 3-1 defeat by Rio Ave

LISBON, Portugal (AP) " Sporting Lisbon lost its perfect record in the Portuguese league after a 3-1 defeat by Rio Ave on Sunday.

Tarantini, Guedes and Gil Dias netted first-half goals for the visitors, with Bas Dost scoring Sporting's only goal in the 82nd minute.

The result left Sporting with 12 points, two more than defending champion Benfica and Braga, which meet on Monday.

Rio Ave also has 10 points, as does FC Porto, which couldn't get past a 0-0 draw at Tondela.

Sporting was coming off a midweek 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the group stage of the Champions League, when it was winning until the 89th at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
