Simmons in at lock as Wallabies make 1 change for Argentina

PERTH, Australia (AP) " Australia coach Michael Cheika has made just one change for the Rugby Championship match against Argentina on Saturday, returning lock Rob Simmons to the starting side.

The Wallabies are coming off a 23-17 win over South Africa last Saturday in Brisbane which ended a six-match losing streak. Simmons last played in Australia's tournament-opening loss to New Zealand on Aug. 20.

Simmons, replacing Kane Douglas, will partner Adam Coleman in the second row in what will be the sixth lock combination used by Cheika in 2016.

Winger Drew Mitchell, a 71-test veteran who returned from injury off the bench in last week's win over South Africa, has been replaced in the Australia squad by Henry Speight.

Cheika said Mitchell was still building match fitness, and was expected to be in line for a starting berth for forthcoming matches in South Africa and Argentina.

Argentina made four changes to the side which lost 57-22 to the All Blacks last Saturday in Hamilton, New Zealand.

ACT Brumbies scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli earns his first start for Argentina since last year's World Cup, while Juan Manuel Leguizamon returns at blindside flanker after recovering from a leg injury.

Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias replaces injured center Juan Martin Hernandez, while Javier Ortega Desio moves to lock to replace the injured Guido Petti.

Cubelli appeared to take great delight in using social media to suggest to his Brumbies teammates Scott Sio and Tevita Kuridrani that the Pumas would win on Saturday.

"I was going to training, and I send them one saying we are going to beat them," Cubelli said. "It will be good fun to see them."

It will be the first meeting between the teams since Australia's 29-15 victory in last year's Rugby World Cup semifinal at Twickenham.

"It really hurt," Cubelli said. "We knew it was a great (Wallabies) team, but we thought that we could win that game. (But) they were more efficient, their defense, and some of their kicking game was better."
