1st-place Storm move 3 points clear in National Rugby League

SYDNEY (AP) " Melbourne winger Suliasi Vunivalu scored four tries to lead the Storm to a 38-18 win over Manly on Saturday and a three-point lead over Cronulla for first place in the National Rugby League.

The Fijian-born Vunivalu has 21 tries in 16 games, equaling the rookie record set by Israel Folau in 2007.

The Gold Coast Titans beat Newcastle 26-6, the last-place Knights' 16th loss in row.

Penrith moved into the top eight and all but secured a playoff spot with a 40-10 win over Wests Tigers, and Brisbane beat Canterbury 20-10 to move to within two points of the Bulldogs for fourth place.

Cronulla will have a chance to move closer to the Storm when the Sharks play South Sydney on Monday to conclude the 24th of 26 regular-season rounds.
