Valerie Adams has laid down a major marker in her final meet before the Rio Olympics.

The double Olympic shot put champion has thrown a season's best 20.19 metres to win at the Hungarian Athletics grand prix meeting in Budapest.

The meet featured the majority of her Olympic rivals, including Germany's Christina Schwanitz and American Michelle Carter.

It comes after Adams threw over 20 metres for the first time in over 18 months at last week's Diamond League meeting in Monaco.
