The Tall Blacks are quickly learning the way of life in the Philippines as they prepare for the Olympic qualifying tournament.

New Zealand have arrived in Manila, as they prepare to face the host country and France in pool play, with only a win guaranteeing them a spot in Rio.

Assistant coach Ross McMains says it's surprising they've already attracted massive attention.

He says with it being such a basketball crazed country, the energy of fans is exciting.

New Zealand play the Philippines on Friday.
