Kiwi takes court at Wimbledon qualifying

By Dave Worsley

Marina Erakovic has drawn Brazilian, Paula Christina Goncalves as her first round opponent in Wimbledon qualifying. The Brazilian is currently ranked at a career high of 176 while Erakovic is ranked 149.

If Erakovic wins her first round which is scheduled last on court four on Tuesday UK time she would face either Patric Martic from Croatia or Polands Urszula Radwanska in the second round the following day.

To win a main draw place at Wimbledon Erakovic would need to win three matches.

Also in England there have been mixed results for the two teams featuring Kiwis at the Nottingham ATP event.

Mike Venus and Croatian partner Mate Pavic have been beaten in the first round by third seeds Treat Huey (Philippines) and Mx Mirny (Belarus) 7-5 6-3, however Artem Sitak and American Nicholas Monroe scored a good win in their match.

They defeated Italian Paolo Lorenzi and Andreas Seppi 7-6(5) 7-6(1).
