Second seed Andy Murray's made hard work of his second round match at the Madrid tennis Masters, needing three sets to get past veteran Radek Stepanek..

The forgotten grand slam champion, Juan Martin del Potro, has recorded his most significant win since returning from a long term wrist injury.

He's knocked out 14th seed Dominic Thiem 7-6, 6-3.

Rafael Nadal has made short work of his opening match at the Madrid tennis Open.

The four-time champion has beaten a Russian opponent in straight sets to secure a place in the third round.
