To celebrate the careers of two of its veteran players, as well as the recent extension of its A-League licence, the Wellington Phoenix football club are giving away free tickets to their last game of the season.
Manny Muscat and Ben Sigmund will both farewell the club against the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday at Westpac Stadium in the capital.
Phoenix general manager David Dome today announced that the club will see off the two stalwarts - and acknowledge fan support this season - by giving away 1800 free tickets to the game.
"The last Nix game for Manny Muscat and the retirement of Ben Sigmund is something we really wanted to mark with something special that we haven't done before - these are two great servants of the club and we want them to be farewelled in style.
"Plus it's been a tough season for the club on and off the field with the licence drama, but we've come through it and we really wanted to acknowledge all the support we've had from fans."
The Wellington Phoenix recently had its A-League licence extended by 10 years after a hardly fought campaign to keep them in the competition.
The side is also sitting second to last in the league going into the weekend.
Mr Dome said he knows the game will be very emotional for all the players and staff.
" ... it's really important to all of us that they [Muscat and Sigmund] have the biggest possible crowd to acknowledge how important they have been for the club."
To receive the free tickets, fans will have to book online through Ticketek from 6am on Thursday to 6pm on Friday.
There will be no booking fee if fans choose an ezy-ticket and enter "Siggy" in the password entry box.
Kick-off is at 5pm and gates open at 4pm.
