Stuart Farquhar won the javelin throw with a mighty effort of 83.93m, surpassing the Rio "A" performance standard for selection of 83.00m. It is the furthest throw by Farquhar in four years, since he was in Japan where he was out to 86.31m.
Nneka Okpala won the triple jump in 13.91m (0.0) to add 2cm to her New Zealand national record set in Melbourne in early March. Rochelle Coster in qualifying for the final of the 100m hurdles equalled Andrea Miller's New Zealand national record of 13.10. Nick Southgate was second in the pole vault in a personal best height of 5.47m. James Mortimer was third in the 200m final in a PB 20.92. Holly Robinson set a Para-Athlete NZ and Oceania record of 40.81m in the javelin throw. Alex Mander was second in the under 20 decathlon, Phoebe Edwards third in the under 20 heptathlon, Joshua Hawkins was second in the 110m hurdles. Fiona Morrison was third in the 100m hurdles, Elizabeth Lamb third in the high jump and Siositina Hakeai third in the discus throw. Not setting any records Isaiah Priddey won the SB 1500m 4:02.71 and 3000m 8:34.60. Both O'Connor and Priddey are in the New Zealand team for the world schools cross country championships in Budapest later this month.
