In form doubles pairing of Kiwi Michael Venus and Croatian Mate Pavic have been ousted in the opening round of the Acapulco Open in Mexico.

The pair, who are fourth in the ATP's Road to London points race, have been in superb form this year but struggled after a long flight from Europe to Mexico for this event.

They lost 4-6 6-7 and 9-11 in a super tiebreaker to Israel's Jonathan Erlich and Brit Colin Fleming - the same pairing they triumphed over in the final of the Marseille tournament last weekend.
