Pat Lam's Connacht continue to heap the pressure on the Guinness PRO12 with a 30-17 win over fellow contenders, Wayne Pivac's Scarlets.

Loose forward Jake Heenan, who hails from Northland via Auckland, scored a double off lineout drives to aid and abet the work of teammates Bundee Aki and Tom McCartney.

Hadleigh Parkes and Michael Collins turned out for Scarlets.

Mils Muliaina came off the bench following a long layoff in Zebre's 12-16 defeat to Francis Saili's Munster.

Nick Crosswell, at blindside flanker, saw his Dragons triumph 23-13 over Hayden Triggs' Leinster.

Ospreys and Glasgow drew 20-20, a stalemate for opposing halfbacks Brendon Leonard and Grayson Hart.

A try to former Steelers and Patumahoe flanker Sean Reidy helped Ulster to a comfortable 32-13 win over Treviso, for whom Jayden Hayward kicked three goals.

Cardiff Blues, with Rey Lee-Lo and Jarrad Hoeata starting, edged Edinburgh, who featured Phil Burleigh and Mike Coman, 10-3.

In the French Top 14, Toulouse charged to the top of the log with a 54-3 smashing of Pau. Paul Perez scored a try, while Joe Tekori played lock with Luke McAlister off the pine. Pau's All Blacks duo of Conrad Smith (13) and Colin Slade (10) will not have experienced too many 50-point hidings in their long careers.

Dan Carter scored his first try as Racing-Metro defeated Oyonnax 26-3. Casey Laulala, Ben Tameifuna and Chris Masoe all started for the victors, while Viliami Ma'afu suited up at No 8 for Oyonnax. Racing-Metro now gear up to face the Highlanders in Hong Kong on Saturday.

A red card to prop Sona Taumalolo did not prevent Grenoble beating Agen 33-27.

Former Turbo and national sevens rep George Tilsley came off the bench for Agen.

Toulon's Ma'a Nonu, who voiced his frustrations at his new job during the week, saw off his Stade Francais opposite Paul Williams 23-16.

Simon Hickey's two penalty goals were not sufficient as Bordeaux-Begles fell 19-9 to Sitiveni Sivivatu's Castres.

Montpellier upset Clermont 19-15 at Stade Michelin, denting the hopes of Hosea Gear and Fritz Lee. Brive beat the La Rochelle of Hikairo Forbes, Jason Eaton and Romana Graham 28-6.

The Top 14 breaks for three weeks while the first two rounds of the Six Nations are played.

In England's Aviva Premiership, tries to Sam Tuitupou and TJ Ioane helped Sale Sharks to a 38-10 win over Sean Maitland's London Irish.

Four goals to Jimmy Gopperth gave Wasps a 24-11 away win at Northampton, who fielded George Pisi, Michael Paterson and James Wilson.

Former Crusaders and Blues five-eighths Daniel Bowden wore the No 12 jersey for Bath in their 19-13 loss to table-topping Saracens.

No 8 Thomas Waldrom continued his prolific tryscoring exploits with a five-pointer in Exeter Chiefs' 30-15 win over Bryce Heem's Worcester.

Nili Latu's Newcastle beat Nick Evans' Harlequins 26-19, while Telusa Veainu scored a try from the wing in Leicester's 19-18 win over the Gloucester of Willi Heinz and Jeremy Thrush.
