TVNZ has been announced as the exclusive broadcaster for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

It will be the first time the free-to-air channel will host the Commonwealth Games since 2006. Sky Television held the rights to the last two Commonwealth Games in Delhi and Glasgow.

Sky TV will also broadcast this year's Olympics.

A statement said: "TVNZ will offer viewers the best of the live action every day on air through TV One and TVNZ's sports channel in addition to live online streaming, highlights and delayed broadcasts through TVNZ OnDemand and One News Now".

The event will take place from 4 to 15 April 2018.

More to come...
