It will be a massive upset if the extremely smart greyhound Dyna Vikkers tastes defeat in tonight's $100,000 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup.
The $1.50 TAB final field favourite was ruthless in the way he disposed of his semifinal opponents when crushing them by 7.5 lengths in a slippery 29.94s.
A repeat of that time will see this Craig Roberts prepared greyhound serve up a repeat dose with daylight running second.
"He is the perfect greyhound, just a phenomenal chaser in all areas. Put it this way, he can do it at both ends of his races," said Roberts.
Roberts, along with his son Matt, has the healthy habit of providing group one quinellas between them, having achieved that distinction three times this year.
Roberts junior has qualified 30.20s semi winner Cawbourne Brick along with Cawbourne Crouch tonight.
"Brick is going really good races at the moment, chasing really hard. I reckon Crouch is suited by his draw [eight], where hopefully he can sizzle around them," said Roberts.
Born To Boom is a progressive youngster for trainer Jason Dunn. He ran down Cawbourne Crouch to win his semi in 30.28s. "If he can secure the early lead by hopping out quickly, then he has the talent to make things rather interesting," said Dunn.
Northern trainer Steve Clark could win the other group one feature on the card with Yeboah ($3.50) in the $30,000 Super Pets Galaxy Sprint.
Fireman's Galaxy (Gary Cleeve), Paperbond (Dave and Jean Fahey) and Wild Effective (Lisa Ahern) all hold claims in this dash.
