I write this column with a heart that is nearly bursting with pride because I watched a dream becoming true last night.
Like many of my vintage, I've had a belief all my life that given the opportunity, the Kiwis could consistently reign supreme in the world of rugby league. The talent we have produced is simply remarkable but it has not always been easy to show it off.
There have been many Kiwi trail blazers over the last 100 years into the professional game in the UK and Australia, but for too long that feed was only allowed to drip through for various administrational reasons. But since the early 90s' this has changed and New Zealand players are no longer hamstrung by unrealistic international transfer fees.
And now, with the talent pouring from New Zealand into the NRL, the Kiwis have finally been rewarded with the status they deserve. They have proved they are the best team in the world.

And I can see them remaining on top of the game for many years to come for a number of reasons.
But the number one reason for me is the Kiwi coach, Stephen Kearney. He has found his coaching niche and will ensure New Zealand remain the dominate international team in rugby league for a long time.

His leadership skills remind of how Mal Meninga created the dynasty of Queensland in State of Origin football. But in last night's game, I thought every Kiwi player outplayed their opposite, and that's what they had to do.
This exceptional Kiwi performance will also have a positive tap on effect for the Warriors, particularly with half back Shaun Johnson. His up and in defence near the Kiwi try line was simply outstanding. And it is that toughness I think will set an example of what is required for the remainder of the Warriors season.
I take my hat off to Shaun, I thought his performance, and he was under a bit of pressure, was simply the best.
