ANAHEIM, California (AP) " Sami Vatanen scored in the sixth round of the shootout to help the Anaheim Ducks celebrate the retirement of former star Teemu Selanne's No. 8 jersey with a 5-4 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in the NHL on Sunday.
Eight months after Selanne retired following a career spent mostly in Anaheim, the Ducks raised his No. 8 to the rafters in an emotional pregame ceremony for the team's most popular player and the 11th-leading goal-scorer in NHL history.
"I feel very lucky in so many different ways," Selanne told the sellout crowd while blinking back tears. "You guys have made this a happy place for us. It's overwhelming. You guys have treated me so well. Thanks for making this life so special."
Rickard Rakell scored the tying goal with 2:03 left for the Ducks, capping the first multipoint game of his NHL career with two goals and two assists.
Rakell and Ryan Kesler scored shootout goals to keep the game alive after Blake Wheeler and Evander Kane scored early for Winnipeg. Mark Scheifele missed in the sixth round before Vatanen beat Ondrej Pavelec to clinch the NHL-leading Ducks' third win in four games.
Elsewhere, Corey Crawford had 36 saves as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the sliding Minnesota Wild 4-1. Marian Hossa, Bryan Bickell and Brad Richards each had a goal and an assist.
And Brian Campbell scored the go-ahead goal in the second period as the Florida Panthers beat Edmonton 4-2 for their third straight win.
