A filly Donna Logan thinks could be the equal of Rising Romance will be aimed at giving the Northland trainer another Oaks in Australia this season.
A setback interrupted Telepathic's preparation for the big races in New Zealand and the ATC Oaks, which Rising Romance won in fine style on Saturday.
Telepathic stood on a nail when she pulled a shoe and returned to racing after a three-month break on April 12 with a 1200m win at Ellerslie with Michelle Payne aboard.
Unfortunately for Payne, Logan is hoping to entice ATC Oaks winning jockey James McDonald to Brisbane for the filly's lead-up races and the Queensland Oaks on May 31.
"She may have one more run at home and then come to Queensland," Logan said.
"Hopefully James can ride her. She is owned by Gerry Harvey so it would be great to win a big race for him.
"Early on, I thought there was little between her and Rising Romance."
Logan says it's a balancing act to find the right horses to bring across the Tasman. "The money is so good here but you have to have the horse.
"Our staying horses can compete but not the sprinters."
If breeding is any guide, Telepathic is the right horse to bring to Australia.
She is by Mossman out of Telepathy whose dam Great Klaire is a half sister to broodmare Eight Carat, whose dynasty includes Octagonal, Mouawad, Kaapstad and Diamond Lover.
