New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has crashed out in the first round of the rich WTA tournament in Doha.
The world number 50 has lost 6-4, 6-2 to Aussie 12th seed Sam Stosur.
Erakovic struggled against the Stosur serve, failing to create any break point chances and was broken three times herself in the one hour and six minute defeat.
Erakovic still has the doubles in Doha before heading to Dubai next week.
Erakovic is poised to slide down the WTA rankings
She was defending points from winning the Memphis title in the same week last year so will drop from her current position of 50 when the rankings come out next week.
