Tuilagi in race to be fit for 6 Nations

LONDON (AP) England's midfield headaches may extend to the Six Nations, with explosive center Manu Tuilagi likely to miss the start of the tournament after undergoing surgery on a chest injury.

Leicester Tigers coach Richard Cockerill said on Tuesday that Tuilagi has had a setback as he closed in on a return from a torn pectoral muscle, and "will be out for probably three months."

With Brad Barritt also sidelined with a foot injury, England has been without its first-choice center partnership for the autumn internationals and replacements Billy Twelvetrees and Joel Tomkins have failed to impress in wins over Australia and Argentina.

The Six Nations begins on Feb. 1, when the English travel to France. They visit Scotland a week later.
