New Zealand tennis No1 Marina Erakovic has lost the doubles final at the Madrid Masters tournament in Spain.

Erakovic teamed up with former world top ranked player Cara Black from Zimbabwe but eventually lost to Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who is now coached by Martina Hingis and Lucie Safarova (Czech Republic) 6-2 6-4 in 78 minutes.

Meanwhile Rubin Statham has won his first round singles qualifying at the US$75,000 Challenger at Busan, Korea.

Fellow Kiwi, Michael Venus plays in the US$50,000 Challenger in Samarkand, Uzbekistan and is drawn to take on local Davis Cup player Farrukh Dustov, the seventh seed in first round of the main draw.
