AS Dragon have made OFC champions league history today, becoming the first Tahitian side to win a match in New Zealand after defeating Auckland City 3-1.
The Tahitian champions came from 1-0 behind at halftime to shock the four time Oceania champions at Trusts Arena in Henderson with three goals in the last 14 minutes.
Auckland City coach Ramon Tribulietx had warned of complacency after their 12-2 thumping of AS Mont Dore last Saturday and his fears were vindicated as the New Zealand team came up with a flat performance.
After Adam Dickinson had opened the scoring with a controversial penalty in the 45th minute, Dragon scored goals in the 74th, 80th and 90th minutes to silence the home supporters.
It was a deserved victory, as Dragon dominated the second half after the first period had yielded few chances.
The result leaves group B wide open with Auckland City to meet Waitakere United on Saturday before a tough return game against Dragon.
Auckland City 1 (A. Dickinson 45)
