The Warriors had a little downtime yesterday with members of the community in Otara.

The Season Launch Carnival was held at Ngati Otara Park yesterday afternoon and saw members of the team showing off their skills with youngsters and playing a game of backyard league.

Otara is home to several old and current players, including Manu Vatuvei, Jerry Seuseu, Dean Bell and Reuben Wiki. Warriors boss Wayne Scurrah said it was a great way to kick off the season while also giving back to the community.

"It's a great opportunity for us to make one of our biggest annual events a grassroots community occasion."

The Warriors open their campaign next Saturday against the Eels in Parramatta.
