Club captain Andrew Durante has stressed the importance of the next week for the Wellington Phoenix.

The A-League cellar dwellers play three home games in eight days, starting with Sunday's match against Adelaide United.

Durante says with only six games remaining in the season, they're aware the next week is do or die.

He says if they want to be series about making the playoffs they have to get seven to nine points from the three matches.

The Phoenix are likely to be without attacking midfielder Isaka Cernak on Sunday as he has a hip injury.

Goalkeeper Mark Paston missed training this morning due to illness.
