Graeme Swann is known as the joker in the England cricket team but James Anderson might not be laughing after the spinner sent one of his custom club heads into the Pacific Ocean while trying to perform a golf trick shot.
With the England players enjoying a round at the picturesque Cape Kidnappers course before today's second ODI at Napier's McLean Park, Swann took the opportunity to smash a shot off a cliff into the ocean.
Teammate Stuart Board filmed the incident and posted it on YouTube.
The spinner is heard saying 'don't let go, don't let go' before taking a cricket swing with the club, connecting with a ball tossed in the air but also sending the head off the club and over the cliff face.
Swann later tweeted: @JimmyAnderson9: a doff of the cap to you sir for taking the loss of your custom driver so well.
Swann will be looking to connect with more success in today's match.
