Sacked Blues coach Pat Lam is going back to his roots - helping Manu Samoa on its upcoming Northern Hemisphere tour.

Lam will join his former team in an assistant's role for matches against Canada, France and Wales, Radio Sport reported this morning.

"A technical advisor sort of role, and a mentor role, so yeah looking forward to it. It's an exciting challenge, certainly a tough one, but I certainly enjoy going to Wales, had a pretty good success rate there...'' he said.

Lam told Radio Sport that he was yet to make any commitments about fulltime coaching again.
