ARU boss John O'Neill envisages a combined Wallabies-All Blacks team facing a British and Irish Lions side to commemorate the centenary of the Gallipoli landings.

Irish assistant coach Les Kiss says it's an idea that is sure to be popular.

"I think those things always appeal, I just think it's about finding the right opportunity in the calendar, it's chocka-blocka at the best of times, and yeah I think there's legs in it."

An ANZAC team played against the Lions in 1989, but the concept failed due to a lack of support from players during the amateur era.
