Pukekohe pacer Gold Ace should start justifying his new $1.3 million price tag in Perth tonight.

Trainer Steven Reid and fellow owners turned down that much for the exceptional 4-year-old entire this week, the offer coming from caretaker trainer Gary Hall.

Gold Ace won his Perth debut last Friday under Hall's care.

He is a $1.20 fixed odds favourite for tonight's A$175,000 Golden Nugget at the same venue.

"He has drawn barrier one and he will just win again," said Hall.

"He will end up being the best pacer in Australasia and he beat Quinny [Im Themightyquinn] in track work last week. Being a stallion and a freak he is worth a fortune."

Gold Ace will race in Perth again next week before returning to Auckland.
