VALENCIA, Spain - Two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso has made a first appearance with his new team Ferrari.

Alonso, who will replace Kimi Raikkonen from next season, appeared at an event in Valencia, Spain, yesterday alongside new teammate Felipe Massa and president Luca di Montezemolo.

Alonso said he was "very impressed and very happy" with his first impression of the team at the Cheste circuit, and added that he and Massa can fight for the championship in 2010.

The Spanish driver remains under contract with Renault until Jan. 1, when he begins a three-year stint with the Italian team.
