Glenfield Rovers and Papakura monstered lower-ranked opposition 18-1 and 17-1 respectively today in the preliminary round of soccer's women's Knockout Cup.
Beaten finalists in 2007, Northern League side Glenfield Rovers were far too strong for Oratia, Alice Bresnahan bagging seven goals and Lauren Mathis and Priscilla Duncan each chiming in with hat-tricks.
Similarly lopsided was Auckland first division Papakura's 17-1 win over fourth division Onehunga-Mangere. Tracy Joyce led the scoring with five and hat-tricks to both Tayla Day and Mahalia O'Connor padded the scoreline.
On the North Shore, Forrest-Hill Milford won a local derby against Takapuna with the game's only goal, while further north, Kerikeri pushed Waitakere all the way before losing to the West Aucklanders 3-4 in a penalty shootout.
In Wellington's only preliminary round match, Brooklyn-Northern United edged University 1-0 to book a first round meeting with Lower Hutt on June 14.
