This is a 'tag cloud'. Tags are a way to organise lots of information. They are short descriptions for a subject - like keywords.

If you click on a tag, it will take you to a list of articles related to that keyword.

The 'tag cloud' on this webpage shows the tags related specifically to your region. The size of the tag text in the cloud graphic relates to the number of stories that have been published related to that particular tag. The larger the tag text, the more stories that have been published about that tag topic.

So, if you see a topic you are particularly interested in, click on it for a more comprehensive list of stories.

Across the whole site there are hundreds of tags and typically, most articles are linked to several that allow you to search for more information.

What is an example?

Let's say you're on a page about bad weather in New Zealand. At the bottom of the page you'll find a list of related tags. They would be tags like Storms, Natural Disasters or Civil Defence in New Zealand. Click on them and you would be taken to a page of headlines on that topic.
