Simon Collins is the Herald’s social issues reporter. He joined the Herald in 1983 and worked in the press gallery at Parliament from 1985-1993 covering the economic reforms of Roger Douglas and Ruth Richardson as an economic and political reporter and then economics editor. He left to help launch an independent Wellington weekly, City Voice, which he edited from 1993 to 2000. He returned to the Herald as a feature writer in 2000 and has since covered science (2002-2005) and social issues (since 2005). He is the author of Rogernomics: is there a better way? (1987).
