Yes, seniors were born to be wild
On Saturday, Steve returned to where he had parked in a seniors park at the Glenfield Shopping Centre and found an anonymous note on his motorbike. "It read: 'Hope you are a senior! If not, you shouldn't be parked here'. Yes, I'm 67 and I ride a motorbike. So what? Why would you think that the rider of the bike wasn't a senior? Who made you the parking police? Do you assume that as soon as they reach 64 years and 364 days that motorbike riders sell their bikes and never ride again? Yes, seniors do ride motorbikes. They also ski, skydive, surf, scuba and do so many other challenging and dangerous things."
Grind definitely on a high
When walking down High St, Lena was reminded there are a lot of good people in Auckland. "I saw a staff member from the cafe (Grind on High) giving a bag of pastries to a homeless guy, the shy old man with the long grey hair - you've probably seen him around looking through the bins for food. I was so happy they chose to give him their leftover pastries and I'll be swinging by for a coffee.
Take note: It pays to be nice
Robyn Gray accidentally scratched the bumper of a truck when parking. "I left them a note saying sorry with my number. Here is the sweet text I got from the truck owner. 'Cheers for Note on Wagon don't worry about it hope you ok thanks was really Choice of you to leave me the note.' Karma Rocks."
Memo from sharks: Waters are human-infested
"Another term we frequently hear from journalists is 'shark-infested waters'," writes Gary Healey. "Are they unable to grasp the fact that sharks live in the sea? If anything, sharks would be well within their rights to comment about 'human-infested waters'. They belong there whereas we don't. We never hear about 'vehicle-infested roads', although here in Auckland it's probably not far off the mark."
... Or for a really even tan try the rotisserie option
In 1963 a California firm made a Plexiglas bubble which lets in ultraviolet rays but keeps out sand, soot, and wind. According to Newsweek, The Fabor Sunbathing Capsule was 2m long and just under a metre wide by 45cm high at the shoulders; it tapers at the feet.
News-ish: While on holidays in Rhode Island, drone enthusiast Kevin Miller was taking footage of a 200-feet-tall wind turbine when it captured something unexpected: a man sunbathing at the top!
