The indoor learner pool and spas at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre are on track to reopen on Monday, according to the Rotorua Lakes Council website.
The pool has been closed for eight weeks while contractors carried out maintenance work on underground pipes, replaced the old pool floor tiles with special non-slip matting, and gave the area a general tidy up.
Swimming lessons that were moved to other venues or postponed during the closure will return to their normal routines.
Rotorua Aquatic Centre Manager David Pearce said he was sure pool users would be very pleased with the new look.
"The soft non-slip matting is going to make it much safer for the young people and their families who use the pool."
To complement the new look the centre is looking for a permanent coffee cart and now has three dedicated eating areas for those who want to bring food along when they go for a swim.
"We want to keep the new pool and the area around it clean and tidy for as long as possible, so we have decided to move the eating areas away from the pool side," said Mr Pearce.
"In addition to the blue shaded area next to the splash pad, we have added one indoor eating area next to reception and another covered area outside under the swim club rooms. There are also plenty of shaded picnic areas outside for groups to use."
Mr Pearce said when the learner pool reopened on Monday they asked anyone who brought food along to the pool to use the new eating areas.
During the summer school holidays the aquatic centre will have their large inflatables up and Rotorua Lakes Swim School will be offering swim lessons and water safety classes.
