Rotorua players feature in the Bay of Plenty Volcanix squad for this year's Mitre 10 Farah Palmer Cup - with six from Whakarewarewa and three each from Rotoiti and Waikite.
The Volcanix side, announced today, will kick off their Cup season on September 2 in Whakatane against Premiership side Auckland Storm.
Coach Brendon Webby said: "We have selected a young side but it is boosted by a couple of experienced heads. It has been great to see the development of the Baywide Women's Club Rugby competition, credit to the club coaches in this space for their support with the development of the women's game.
"We have already started working on building a positive environment for the Volcanix with a great bunch of committed girls."
After kicking their season off against Auckland, the Volcanix will head to Hawke's Bay for the Battle of the Bays. The side will North Harbour at Rotorua International Stadium in week three and will remain at home to host Tasman in a televised curtain raiser match ahead of the Bay of Plenty Steamers Mitre 10 Cup match against Counties Manukau.
The Volcanix final round robin fixtures are scheduled away with their first against neighbouring rivals Waikato on September 30 and second against Otago in their second televised curtain raiser match ahead of the Steamers clash against Otago.
The final week of round robin matches will be a bye week for the side before the Championship enters play offs with semifinals and finals scheduled for October 21 and 28.
