Failed mayoral candidate Reynold Macpherson continues to promote his own importance and that of the Rotorua District Residents and Ratepayers group by now claiming that they should be considered as "key stakeholders" in our city. He offers some 40,000 votes as being evidence of this.
Reynold Macpherson should understand that by and large his endorsed candidates at the triennial council elections were rejected by our community.
Councillor Bentley stood and was listed on the voting papers as "a Sensible Man" and was elected on his own merit.
Councillor Kumar on election night thanked his own local community of Springfield for his success. The other endorsed candidates failed.
A total of 40,000 votes could sound impressive, but there were 167,000 votes cast, meaning the remaining 127,000 votes were telling Dr Macpherson and the RDRR group to go away.
These numbers hardly allow them to claim the status of "key stakeholders".

Other side
Thank you so much for printing Malcolm Lumsden's article (Rotorua Daily Post The Country, February 16) which describes the other side of the story we are sick of hearing.
The regional council's censorship team must have been at lunch or sipping their lattes.
